DESIGN AND FILM PRODUCTION BY EDWARD SHI
There are so many similar ideas when compares with architecture and natural organisms. Suppose taking the architecture as an organism, the water pipes, electric wires, and network cables inside the building are just like the blood vessels and nerves insides the animal bodies maintaining the operation of the building and the external information exchange.
The flowing form of blood in body circulation arouses my interest in relation to the possibilities for space design. All the pipelines inside a building are usually hidden in the wall or placed in an unnoticed corner, just imagine, if the pipelines are exposed, what kind of space experience and mental feelings will the viewers have while sensing the flowing of liquid inside the building?
I wonder whether the fluid installation could change the way for spectators to observe the existing space? The aim of the project is not to provide a practical solution to the infrastructure of interior architecture, but to capture more poetic respect for the metaphors I employ. Since the most fluid in a building is invisible or hidden, how can I visualize it in an architectural way?
